We received a member's concern in including a description of a suspect's race in a description of a abducted crime as possibly encouraging discrimination. It is important in being a good witness, to provide any physical description of a suspect. An example on one offered in a crime seminar by the Orange County Sheriff Department can be seen here under "Description of Suspect":
The Orange County Sheriff also provided a checklist on being a good witness which we typed on our website for RPMT Member's use. Anyone's race is beneficial to the Sheriff in assisting locate a suspect to an alleged crime as it offers a description of the person. Please review the checklist so that if you witness an alleged suspect, you could help OCSD. The Sheriff's Suspect Activity Check List can be found here:

Los Al To Consider Legal Action On Massive Cypress Development

Prologis, an industrial developer, plans to build a distribution center/trucking terminal complex, including about 129 truck bays at Katella Avenue and Enterprise Drive on the Cypress side of the city border. However, most of the truck traffic would appear to impact Los Alamitos.

- SAMPLE LETTER -
If you oppose a trucking terminal being built on Katella Blvd., we would like to provide the following sample statement:
Dear Los Alamitos City Manager & City Council Members of Los Alamitos:
As a registered voter and resident of Rossmoor, we are asking you to impose measures on the proposed 33 acre Truck Distribution Terminal proposed by the Prologis Corporation that will halt the project until the concerns of our residents can be addressed.
As this proposal stands right now, there are numerous impacts this project will impose upon the residents of Rossmoor, Los Alamitos and Cypress that will negatively affect our quality of life. The increase in traffic, air quality control and destruction of our community’s roadways are inconsistent with our community standards.
We oppose any efforts to develop the trucking terminal at this present location. We encourage the City of Los Alamitos to bring the appropriate legal action to stop the development and protect our quality of life in our community.
Please copy the above, and email to: LOS ALAMITOS CITY MANAGER, GREG KORDUNER AT: gkorduner@cityoflosalamitos.org

These kittens are available at the Orange County Animal Shelter.
Subject: More Foster Kittens
Well kitten season is starting, and 3 kittens became available for foster this morning from the shelter. They are almost old enough for adoption, except they need socialization. They were pretty scared, but they're already beginning to come around a little.

The black/white and calico are girls, and the orange/white is a boy.
CERT TRAINING INFORMATION COMING SOON!
WHAT IS CERT? CERT is a group of responsible, trained individuals who have come together to form a skilled group of Disaster Service Workers. The CERT Program is a nationally recognized FEMA training program that can be used just for your family or in neighborhoods, businesses, and schools. The CERT members realize that in the event of a major disaster they will have to rely on themselves and their neighbors to handle emergencies until professional help arrives.
THE PURPOSE: The CERT Program is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, you can make a difference by using CERT training to save lives and protect property.
THE INSTRUCTION: The 24-hour course covers topics such as Introduction to Disaster Preparedness, First Aid, Light Search and Rescue, Fire Suppression, and Disaster Psychology. Residents that complete the Beginning and Advanced CERT Training Program are certified Disaster Service Workers, ready to help their family and neighborhoods in the event of a disaster.
ARE YOU PREPARED? Recent California history has shown the need for neighborhoods, schools, & businesses to rely on themselves for a minimum of 7 days to 2 weeks following a major earthquake.
